A few years back I stopped at Shaw Landing. (Thats the little float and seasonal market next to the Shaw ferry landing at the entrance to Blind Bay) We got some snacks and while there inquired about coming back in a day or two and leaving the boat at the dock while we explored the island on our bicycles.
We were not told straight out yes or no, they said something about docks being for paid overnighter's and to check back later. I decided not to come back and we went to Lopez. There's more >>>
Since then, I have located the county park at Indian cove. Indian Cove is behind Canoe Island on Upright Channel Interestingly, some people call it Shaw County Park (except Shaw is not a county)others I think more correctly call it South Beach County Park, but the road is called Shaw Park Rd.
Anyway - back to bicycling Shaw Island. This summer we will have a few extra days at Friday Harbor over the 4th holiday and I plan to run over and anchor at Shaw Park (there is no dock) and dinghy the bikes ashore to explore the islands 14 miles of public roads.
Our navigation charts do not mark shore-side amenities or parks, but after studying street maps and sat. pics, I am sure the park occupies most of the left half of the shoreline of Indian Cove. The concrete boat ramp should be a good landmark and clinch the search when we arrive.
I will update this post in the fall, but don't wait for me, "just get going."
Note: we may take the ferry from Friday Harbor if the east/west schedule works out.

Next time we get the urge to bicycle Shaw Island we may simply anchor at Shaw county park and dinghy the bikes ashore. FYI, there is nowhere on Blind Bay where you can land a dinghy without trespassing.
